Here’s a little story about a boy and his pliers...

Of course there will always be a debate over quality vs price and the expression “you get what you pay for” is known to all. Naturally this ideology applies to hand tools as well.

This last weekend all the girls in the family went to see some friends leaving the boy and I to do a few chores and have enough time to go to town and visit our new local hardware store.

I had a chance to let my boy hold two brands of pliers in his hand and ask him which ones where better. He correctly identified the better quality tool. I then showed him the price tags and explained that the one he selected was higher priced.

Thus the quandary of which to buy... cheaper or better... in the end we did go with better because these pliers were going to belong to my boy and I told him that I believed he would be the kind of man who would take care of them for long enough that the extra cost would be worth it. I also bought the better kind for him because he had gotten a pair just like them for Christmas and his father borrowed them at one point and lost them!

Lol, so there you go boy, do what I say not what I do!
